Youth Investigation Deputies are responsible for presenting a format of programs to over 5,400 + of our young school age children (6th grade) in both the public and private schools, on drug awareness, bicycle safety, gun safety, fingerprinting, civic responsibility and law enforcement.
In addition, they present programs to other ages in the public and private systems, set up public information booths at the Cherry Blossom Festival, Southern Jubilee and other special events that inform the general public on public safety measures.

The Youth Investigation section is also responsible for The Sheriff’s Office Driver Training Program. This initiative takes officers into the high schools throughout Bibb County to teach 10th graders the importance of proper driving techniques. This training includes classroom instruction using the National Safety Council Defensive Driving Program. The officers also use computerized driving simulators to give the students some “real world” driving experiences so that bad habits can be identified and alleviated.

OBJECTIVES:
• To reach our youth at an impressionable age.
• To continue to educate young people in the hazards of drugs, firearms, safety, civic responsibility and law enforcement.
• To continue to work with schools to present the necessary programs needed for good citizenship and community responsibility.
• To continue searching for new materials, videos and displays that will be more effective in the presentations to young people.
• To develop material and presentations for adult crime prevention.
• To present crime prevention methods at social and public affairs.
